Otago Gryphon by rillani Otago Gryphon by rillani
This guy swoops down from on high and slams into his prey, much like the Haast's Eagle (the largest eagle ever) may have done before it went extinct.

Wah, so cool! I've always wanted to see an anatomy of a gryphon drawing :D You've done very well here, quite believable! I want to go on safari and find one...

I love the keel on your Gryph! Most Gryphons lack a sternal keel. The pygostyle was also a great addition. Now, it can preen properly.

I wonder if these can possibly be found in the Otago region of New Zealand. Plenty of hills to swoop from down there....

You got it on the nose. I based the eagle parts on the Haast's Eagle, a huge bird that used to live on the South Island. It ate giant moas and possibly small children. :D
