Steampunk Junk by rillani Steampunk Junk by rillani
I once asked myself: what if a fictional 19th century China had similar technical advances as Jules Verne's England, with equivalents of the Time Machine and the Nautilus?

Here's what I came up with, the imperial steam-powered junk (a type a Chinese sailing ship that's not normally steam-powered).

(This picture was originally done in March 2008, but I found it again and touched it up a little.)

It is so great to see steampunk that is not Victoriana.

Really excellent, I can tell you put in a lot of time getting the textures of the water and clouds right. the water splashing against the ship is very well done too

Really cool idea. I especially love the jade smokestacks and the overall color scheme.

Steampunk junk may just be the best deviation name I've EVER heard.

That sky - but those waves particularly - are really something special. Absolutely awesome.

Exceptionally pretty color combinations and perfectly stunning work on the textures, lights, and shadows of those waves...

I really like this, there's something about it that I can't put my finger on, the Ship has a sort of caricatured-ness to its proportions, but I mean that in a good way.

Oh my god I love the colors!!!!

The jewel tones on the boat, the details of the wood, incredible. If I'm being perfectly honest, though, I love the sky and water the best. I love the warm oranges and yellows in the sky coupled with the teals and greens in the water, and they way all of it just blends together so perfectly.

Great job!
